2011 So You Think You Can Dance Tour

So You Think You Can Dance? is another talent reality show which was created by Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe who also are responsible for brainstorming American Idol. The show, So You Think You Can Dance is produced by 19 Entertainment and Dick Clark Productions.

A menagerie of contestants will be selected who range from people who have won something for their talents all the way down to the local street dancer. It is this wide variety of participants which makes this show so much fun. This show is slightly different than American Idol because it not only focusses on the dancer’s talents but it also introduces new arrangements by multi-talented choreographers.

Every year, up to top 20 dancers are chosen from the original soup of applicants to compete on National TV. These performers are given the task to dance in different styles and with various partners each week to test their adaptability. This show was rated #1 for the Summer of 2006 by viewers aged 18-49.

Auditions are held in large cities across the United States each year to find the most talented dancers in each locale. No matter what your dancing speciality is, you are always welcome to auditon for the show. This format of a dancing show has been so well received in the American market that there are now similar shows in countries like Turkey, Australia, New Zealand, Ukraine, Israel, Malaysia, The Netherlands and Portugal. Some of the different dancing styles one may see on the show include: jazz, ballet, hip hop, tap, salsa ballroom and more.

It was the #1 rated show in summer 2006 for adults aged 18–49. Two of the past master of ceremonies for the television version of So You Think You Can Dance have been Lauren Sanchez and Cat Deeley. Some of the past grand prizes have included a $100,000 cash prize, a dancing gig in Celine’ Dion’s Vegas Show and a brand new hybrid SUV.
